How to Build a 2020 Vision Board!

What is a vision board? A vision board is a tangible manifestation of the dreams you have for yourself. It can be made digitally using apps like Canva or creating a Pinterest board, it can be put together on a bulletin board, or a collage made on a poster board. The important part is that you must build your vision board yourself, you can’t have someone do it for you! What a great way to head into 2020 with some time spent on thinking about and creating a reminder of your 2020 goals and dreams.

Similar to the concept of when you purchase a car, you start seeing that car all over the place, the same is true for a Vision Board. As you see your goals and dreams in your face, you see opportunities and time to dedicate to those goals and dreams. Sounds sweet, but how do we make one?

Bulletin Board Vision Board

STEP 1: Set your intentions.

Spend some time with yourself, thinking, pondering, what you want on this board. Imagine your ideal career, routine, exercises, relationship, house, car, community, and so on. The more specific you can be, the better! You want to be in a good headspace when you sit down to make your vision board, so set the best scene for thinking about your personal goals and the success you want to achieve in life.

STEP 2: Gather the goods!

If you are doing a physical vision board, now is the time to find magazines and newspapers to cut images out of. Sometimes you might not find exactly what you want, don’t worry! Google can be your friend. You can also print images you find to cut out and put on your poster board or bulletin board. Some prefer to go the digital way. You can use Pinterest and create a board for 2020, or you can dive into an app like Canva. It’s important to find what works best for you and what is going to be something you can look at regularly!

STEP 3: Placement. Once you’ve made your vision board, it’s important to hang it in view. Don’t feel like you need to stare at it 24/7, but it does need to appear in a place where you will encounter it every day in order for it to remind you of your goals and to be a source of motivation to keep working towards, and ultimately, accomplish them. If you make it and put it under your bed, you’re probably going to forget about it! Put it somewhere visible, put it on your phone as a background… just keep it somewhere you will see it! That’s it! It’s an easy, fun and focused way to take some time for yourself, for your goals, your dreams, and to jump into 2020! Do you have a vision board?
